Loads of bars and restaurants are springing up around North Main
Street. The most recent opening was that of Le Cheile, where the
staff are great, delightful decorations, and a quiet music policy,
make this an must stop-off point for anybody who would like a cold
beverage of the non alcoholic or alchoholic kind. Lively debate
and conversation in a modern setting fit for Cork City. In the same
way, the recently refurbished Raven Bar has given this old part
of town a continental flavour with its European coffees and exciting
cocktails.
For those interested in local beers, Corks tradition for brewing
goes way back. The legendary Beamish and Crawford brewery is situated
on South Main Street and across the road is the Oval bar, famous
for its great atmosphere, and if the bar runs out of stout, the
staff can always run across the road and pick up a barrell or two
of stout.
The Franciscan Well is a micro brewery on the North Mall and
has brewed a lovely stout by the name of, Shandon Stout and is
creamy smooth with a nice kick in the tail.
The Vineyard with its latino music and late bar licence, will keep
you hopping and dancing into the early hours of the next day.
Fred Zepplins bar is more for the rocker. The Lobby bar is one
of Corks best live music venues and customers can enjoy trad, folk
and country while overlooking the River Lee just out the door.
The Exchange on Georges Quay is a great spot for a glass of wine
and has an extensive cellar to choose from and DJ’s play
music at night. Loafers bar has bingo on Tuesday nights and all
proceeds are for charity. You will not go thirsty in this great
City of character.
Known as the Party city of the South. Cork is dissected into 3
by the river Lee, - A northside, southside, while the centre of
the city lies on an island in between the north and south. The
University makes Cork a great city full of youth and vibrancy.
