Getting to Cork

Cork Airport is 8 miles south of the city, and Bus Eireann provides a bus service to and from the city. There are ferries from Swansea and from France (Le Havre and Cherbourg) to Cork. All ferries arrive at Corks Ringaskiddy Ferryport. Cork is about 157 miles south west of Dublin, and 76 miles south of Shannon, Co. Limerick, and 54 miles east of Killarney.

Due to Cork being all so compact that almost everything is almost at arms length, that is the nature of the City. The great advantage of Cork is that all amenities and events are within walking distance. Although all is within walking distance, try not to do it all in one day. The main centre and the south side can take an entire day, and save the Hills of Cork and the North Bank for another day.

Taxis are always available in the city, and the Taxi rank is in St. Patrick Street, the South Mall, and outside the major hotels.

If you rent a car, most guesthouses and hotels have adequate parking, and the large department stores would have multi-story parking in the city.
